Summer Harvest Opportunities for Experienced or Student Workers 2021

Elveden is a progressive diverse farming business based on the Elveden Estate but farming across 4 different sites. We farm approximately 10,000 acres of sandy loam and 9,500 acres of silt land. Wherever possible we invest in the latest technology and equipment to enhance and challenge our team to continually improve their skills.

 

Our farming business operates across 4 separate geographic areas, and we are looking for summer workers on three of those sites. We have vacancies for students or experienced operators in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and Yorkshire. We are seeking applicants who are experienced and looking for seasonal work, or students who are currently studying Agriculture at any level, but with a focus on arable, root vegetable or technical.

 

This is a great opportunity to join a leading company where you will be exposed to the latest farming techniques in growing root vegetables and combinable crops. You will be part of a large integrated team and given exposure to various aspects of our business gaining hands on experience from field operations to the loading and transporting of produce for grading and storage.

 

This is a varied role, operators displaying a real aptitude, passion, and enthusiasm, may be given the opportunity to receive further training on more specialised equipment. We have opportunities for the right candidate to operate a primary mover on some heavy land carrying out seasonal cultivations.

 

We are looking for applicants with a full driving licence, team player and ability to work in with others. During the height of the season, you will need to be adaptable and flexible with regards to your working hours to include weekends.

 

Commencing mid-July through to September/October depending on possible educational

commitments. This will give you invaluable experience and an insight in to working on a

commercial farm enabling you to develop key practical skills and knowledge.

 

As a progressive business, for those who have demonstrated the keys skills, aptitude, and attitude we look for, there may be opportunities for permanent positions and invitations to return in following seasons.

 

Basic pay plus overtime being paid at time and a quarter, rate depending on experience.

Shared accommodation is available at a nominal fee.

Grain Store and Weighbridge Operator Summer 2021

Elveden is a progressive diverse farming business based on the Elveden Estate but farming across 4 different sites. We farm approximately 10,000 acres of sandy loam and 9,500 acres of silt land. Wherever possible we invest in the latest technology and equipment to enhance and challenge our team to continually improve their skills.

 

We are looking for an experienced operator or capable student to join us for the summer period to take responsibility for operating a digital weighbridge and associated software, plus take on a responsible practical role overseeing the loading of bulk grain stores, including pushing up grain, record keeping and yard tidiness.

 

You will need to have experience operating a teleporter and ideally have a degree of computer literacy regarding excel spreadsheets.

Placement Opportunity

Elveden is a 22,500-acre country estate, and is home to a progressive, innovative agricultural business. We farm over 10,000 acres of the Estate in addition to 9,500 acres of silt land. This position is for a current University Student seeking an opportunity in their placement year.

Job Title Operation, Technical and Basic Agronomy  trainee

Based at Elveden Farms Ltd Elveden Norfolk IP24 3TQ

We are offering a unique opportunity for somebody looking to experience both the operational, technical  and an insight into the agronomy side of root vegetable and combinable crop production.

The position will start at a practical level helping secure the combinable crop and then root vegetable harvests. The type of practical tasks experienced at this stage will depend on the level of tractor driving skills you currently possess or are able to demonstrate. There will also be opportunity to work within our pre- and post-harvest technical team learning about crop quality and meeting customer specifications and expectations.

For the next cropping year, you will be able to experience field visits with our technical team and independent agronomists , plus build your understanding of the challenges faced at different crop stages. There will also be the chance to further refine your machine operation skills as we move into the second harvest.

If you are looking for a rounded experience and taste of both technical and practical crop production, and are a good communicator, keen to learn and looking to be part of a forward-thinking team, then this is the job for you. Vacancies at The Courtyard

Hospitality Deputy Manager

Our restaurant is encompassed within our courtyard and works alongside a farm shop, butchery and Home & Garden shops selling unique gifts. Our restaurant seats 72 inside and consists of a large outdoor seating area with a possible extra 100 covers. We also have a 30-seater function space. Our whole ethos is based on using locally produced food to serve wholesome dishes with quality in mind.

The opportunity has arisen for a Hospitality Deputy Manager within our Courtyard at Elveden. This position would suit someone with mainly a hospitality background. Ideally with restaurant & function experience. Your position would sit mainly within our restaurant. However it would also involve working closely alongside our Courtyard General Manager & Head Chef to promote the Courtyard as a whole. 

 

This is a very varied role ideally suited to someone wishing to expand or develop on their career path.

Head Chef

Our restaurant is encompassed within our courtyard and works alongside a farm shop, butchery and Home & Garden shops selling unique gifts. Our restaurant seats 72 inside and consists of a large outdoor seating area with a possible extra 100 covers. We also have a 30-seater function space. Our whole ethos is based on using locally produced food to serve wholesome dishes with quality in mind.

We are part of the Guinness family owned Elveden Estate which also owns and runs the Elveden Inn & Guinness Arms. The Estate consists of 22,500 acres that includes farming, woods, conservation, game, a Courtyard with shops and a restaurant along with a number of properties. 

We are now looking to recruit an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen team. You will report to and work closely with the Restaurant Manager. You will have the freedom and flexibility to stamp your personality on the business’s food offering. 

We're looking for someone who is passionate about food. As you will be part of a small team you will be working the Farm Shop Manager and butchery team to maximise in house sales.

We're looking for candidates with the passion to grow the business and build sales by offering an outstanding experience for its customers. You'll also have the ability to train and build on a small and inspired knowledgeable team.

We’re looking for someone with true leadership qualities – able to keep both the customers and the back & front of house team smiling.

  • You’ll be great at working as part of and leading a team.

  • You should be highly motivated and commercially focused.

  • You’ll need to be a great communicator.

  • You should have previous Head Chef experience

 

As our Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of kitchen management, including procurement of ingredients, health, safety and food hygiene, staff training and ensuring financial targets are met.

This position benefits from predominantly early shifts. The occasional evening shift will be required for event nights and functions, especially in the run up to Christmas.

As a department manager you will also be required to partake in duty manager responsibilities for the Courtyard as a whole, when required. These duties will be shared with the Restaurant & Retail manager.
