Afternoon Tea for Two

A selection of afternoon teas are now being served in the cafe restaurant between 2.30-4.30pm. Choose from the traditional tea option, a champagne option or the unusual tea which is served with a Hendrick's gin and tonic. All afternoon teas include a selection of sandwiches, freshly baked scones with homemade jam and clotted cream, plus an assortment of mini cakes and pastries. More...

The Big Onion - New Food Festival Announced!

A Elveden Estate has just announced a new festival, ‘The Big Onion’, celebrating the best food and drink the region has to offer, for Saturday 6th August.

Already confirmed stands include Breckland Orchard, the Watton producers of sparkling soft drinks, Bhaji-Man, makers of fine Eastern-inspired cuisine and Wolf Brewery, producers of high quality ales.  Read more here.

Donkey Driving Day!

Ploughing Marathon

A ploughing marathon at Elveden Estate has raised £2000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The event, which was organised by the Bury St Edmunds Young Farmers’ Club, saw a team of young farmers giving up their time for free in order to learn farming skills and help raise money for charity. The team ploughed over 230 acres of land. Click here to read the full article.

Alzheimers and Time Capsule repositioning!

A time capsule belonging to the Guinness family was sealed at Elveden Estate near Thetford on Sunday and then placed inside a glass wall for the public to view. The capsule was filled with a selection of contents reflecting modern life, including scale models of a Claas Lexion 600 combine harvester and John Deere tractor as used on Elveden farms, a bottle of Guinness Black Lager, a restaurant menu, a print out of the company’s Facebook page, plus a recipe and label of the popular, home-produced “Elvedenilli”.

The “box of memories” was created to co-incide with the national Memory Walk for Alzheimers, which also took place on the estate. The walk raised over £450 for charity with 70 people taking part. Click here to read the full article.

Elveden Wins Gold Star in Great Taste Awards

The Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food are the acknowledged benchmark for speciality food and drink. Elveden's Raspberry Jam with Single Malt Whiskey has won a gold star in this years awards. Winning gold is no easy task with 4,873 products entered for judging only 639 achieved a gold star. Why not pop into our food shop and pick up a jar to try for yourself? On sale at £2.95 (350g).

Children Enjoy a Day on the Farm

Over one hundred school children from Thetford and Ipswich recently spent a day at Elveden gaining insight into where their food comes from. The trip organised through the Country Trust, an educational charity, enabled the children to get their hands dirty taking part in a range of activities from potato digging to sheep herding. The day was a huge success and full of lots of exciting new experinces, one boy saw a tractor for the first time and it was much bigger than he thought it would be.

Young Farmers 48hour Ploughing Marathon

Over the weekend of 19th and 20th September 2009, Bury St Edmunds Young Farmers toiled over the Elveden soils in a 48hour ploughing marathon for charity. It is the core event of their many fundraisers which take place throughout the year to raise funds for their chosen charities. Last year over £3000 was donated to the Bury Bombers, a disabled basketball team and West Suffolk National Autistic Society.
