Elveden Christmas Tree Arrives At Bluewater And Is Britain’s Tallest!

Especially grown, harvested, transported and installed by Elveden Estate from Kielder Forest, Northumberland, what is thought to be Britain’s tallest Christmas Tree at 75ft, will be put into position at Bluewater’s shopping complex in Kent. It will be housed in a specially constructed stand and illuminations will include light cannons which will make the tree’s presence visible from miles around.
Elveden have been retailing Christmas Trees for nearly 50 years and are delighted with this seasons events. Christmas Tree Manager, Jim Rudderham says, “We’re very privileged to have been entrusted with this prestigious project”.

Prize Donation for Equestrian Spectacular Raises £1250
|
Lord Iveagh kindly donated a Walked-Up Mixed Bird Game Day at Elveden Estate for 4 guns as an auction prize at the Equestrian Spectacular, which took place on 8th September 2007.
The event was organised to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and the International League for the Protection of Horses, which overall raised more than £8000, with the Game Day donated by Lord Iveagh reaching £1250.

Gold Winning Garden Designers Visit Elveden
|
Two Chelsea Flower Show Gold Winning Garden Designers will make a guest appearance at Elveden as part of the Garden Weekend – 7th and 8th July. Booked to do a talk about their award winning gardens on Sunday 8th July at 3pm, Adam Woolcott and Jon Smith will also be on hand to take any questions from interested green fingered customers!

Elveden Café Restaurant Awarded AA* Rosette
|
On 13th September 2007, Elveden Café Restaurant received a surprise visit from the AA Hotel and Restaurant Inspector. Having Soup of the Day (Elveden Cherry Tomato Soup), Homemade Elveden Burger and Chefs Chocolate Truffle Cake, he felt fit to award us * AA rosette.
If we had a seperate dining area we would have achieved ** rosettes such is the standard of our food.
Elveden Estate Café Restaurant will appear on the AA website and will feature in the next edition of the good food guide.

British Driving Society Trec National Finals 2007
|
To be held against the sweeping back drop of Elveden Hall. Equines from all over the country will come together at Elveden for a fun day of competitive driving to decide the 2007 Trec Champion.
This competition comprises a safety presentation, an optimum time drive and a skills section. It is open to any turnout that has been placed first or second in a BDS Trec during this year.

Wi-fi launched at Elveden

Elveden Estate Shop and Café Restaurant are pleased to announce that their new wi-fi system has been installed enabling customers to use the wireless facility on their laptops within the Café Restaurant and the Courtyard.
Free of charge half an hour slots are given to customers who let their waitress know they would like to use the facility. For more information please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff or email for more information.

Elveden’s Company Bowling Team

Elveden’s Company 10 pin bowling team took part in the final of the Bury St Edmunds area Companies Challenge on Tuesday 26th June and finished a very creditable second. Congratulations go to the team – Andrew Francis, Phil Garrod, Colin Firman, Barry Flack, Richard Brunning, Andrew Ward, Nigel Grimes, Ian Flack and Paul Dickinson.

Iceni MG Owners Club Raise £2000 for Charity at Elveden Estate

By kind permission of Lord Iveagh, the Iceni MG Owners Club based their Boadicea Run at Elveden Estate on May 20th 2007. 85 cars took part and a magnificent sum of £2000 was raised for West Suffolk Headway, a non-profit organisation that provides a rehabilitation day care service in Bury St. Edmunds, for people who have had a brain injury across West Suffolk and Thetford.

Tasty Suffolk Website is Launched!

Elveden Estate Shop and Café Restaurant played host to the launch of the new Tasty Suffolk website today. Developed by the Suffolk Tourism Partnership with funding support from Suffolk County Council, the Tasty Suffolk website provides a one stop shop for food lovers. The very attractive website brings together farm shops, farmers’ markets and other outlets providing local food, together with food and drink producers whose details are presented in a creative and informative way. ‘We want the website to be inspirational, especially as people are really attracted by the visual impact of food’ said Jim Brown of the Suffolk Tourism Partnership.
